Fundraising for At Risk Youth

On May 16th Jet City Improv hosted the 2nd Annual Karaoke Performance benefiting Wing-It Production and it’s Education Department. All proceeds went to the At Risk Youth Education.

What a great way to raise money for a worthy cause! People who wanted to perform donated $25 each to be on stage, participants paid $20 to watch and everyone could bid on silent auction items.

This was the ultimate experience in everyone winning while having a good time. There were 18 performances in 4 sessions. My friend Laura Legere and I got up the guts to dress up like the Beatles and sing ‘Revolution’. There was dancing and singing in the aisles as we wrapped up the evening around 10 pm.

The Education Outreach Program at Wing-It Productions offers free weekly classes to homeless and incarcerate youth. The goal is to help them develop communication skills and build self-confidence. For more information go to: http://www.wingitproductions.org/outreach.html

There’s much happening in the world that causes grief and sadness. People working in the nonprofit sector see it all the time. But when you combine your dedication to making a difference with personal and collective enjoyment, it has a balancing effect.
