This book was like taking my soul to the most relaxing, nourishing spa imaginable.
I love anything that spins counter-culture and this book is it! Parker Palmer shares in his DVD (Circle of Trust, it comes with the book) how participants get in touch with their inner truth.
He gives you the skills to develop your own circle of trust, cautioning that it takes tremendous dedication to hold a safe space. You’ve got to be vigilant in remembering that each person is his or her own authority. They’re the ones with their answers –– you have to listen it out of them. Parker also compares questions laced with advice to truly open, curious questions. A question like, ‘Have you thought about going to therapy?’ has a built-in answer and isn’t empowering to the soul at all.
A Hidden Wholeness is broken down in 4 parts: 1) Being true to yourself 2) The meaning of community 3) Transformational learning and 4) Nonviolent social change.
If you want to bring more of your soul into the role you play in life, this book will be a guiding light on your path.
